From BoardWalk-area resorts

Hollywood Studios is one of the most accessible parks at Disney World — if you're staying at the right resort. Skyliner resorts have gondola service. EPCOT-area resorts can walk or take boats. Everyone else relies on buses.

This creates a split experience: some guests glide in via Skyliner in 15 minutes while others wait for buses. Understanding your options helps you make the most of your location.

Here's how to get to Hollywood Studios from anywhere on Disney property.

From Skyliner Resorts

Resorts: Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, Riviera

Skyliner resorts have excellent Hollywood Studios access — but there's a catch.

Skyliner

The Hollywood Studios Skyliner line runs from Caribbean Beach hub directly to the park. If you're at Caribbean Beach, it's a direct shot. If you're at Pop Century, Art of Animation, or Riviera, you'll transfer at Caribbean Beach.

Typical time:

The transfer reality: Caribbean Beach hub can add 5-10 minutes depending on timing. You exit one line, walk across the station, and board the Hollywood Studios line. It's not bad, but it's not seamless.

Bus

Standard bus service runs from all Skyliner resorts to Hollywood Studios.

Typical time: 15-25 minutes

Which to Choose?

For Caribbean Beach guests: Skyliner is almost always better. It's direct and scenic.

For Pop Century / Art of Animation / Riviera guests: It depends on the lines. The Skyliner is more enjoyable but requires a transfer. The bus is direct but less predictable. Check both options when you're ready to leave — if the Skyliner station has a long queue or the bus is arriving, that might decide it.

From EPCOT-Area Resorts

Resorts: BoardWalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan, Dolphin

These resorts have multiple ways to reach Hollywood Studios, including walking.

Walking

All five resorts are within walking distance of Hollywood Studios.

Resort Walk Time Notes
BoardWalk 15-20 min Most direct route
Swan 15-20 min Similar to BoardWalk
Dolphin 18-22 min Slightly further
Yacht Club 18-22 min Via BoardWalk
Beach Club 20-25 min Furthest, but still viable

When to walk: Pleasant mornings, evenings, or anytime you want to avoid waiting. The walk is flat and mostly shaded.

When to skip walking: Midday heat, exhaustion, or when you see a boat at the dock ready to board.

Friendship Boats

Boats run from the BoardWalk area to Hollywood Studios via Crescent Lake.

Typical time: 15-25 minutes (including wait)

Best for: A relaxing ride when you're not in a hurry. The boats are pleasant but not faster than walking.

Bus

Standard bus service to Hollywood Studios.

Typical time: 15-25 minutes

Best for: When you don't want to walk and the boats aren't convenient.

The Honest Calculation

Walking and taking the boat often end up about the same total time. Walking means you're moving the whole time. The boat means waiting, then sitting. Pick based on energy and weather.

From Monorail Resorts

Resorts: Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian

There's no monorail to Hollywood Studios. Your options:

Bus (Recommended)

Direct bus service from all monorail resorts.

Typical time: 20-30 minutes

This is your simplest and usually fastest option.

Monorail + Skyliner (Long Way Around)

Take the monorail to EPCOT, then Skyliner from EPCOT to Hollywood Studios.

Typical time: 40-55 minutes

This involves multiple transfers and isn't practical for most situations. Do it for the experience, not for speed.

From All Other Resorts

Resorts: All-Stars, Port Orleans, Coronado Springs, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, etc.

Bus (Your Main Option)

Direct bus service from every Disney resort.

Typical time: 20-35 minutes depending on resort location

Buses to Hollywood Studios are generally reliable. The park has good bus infrastructure.

From Other Parks (Park Hopping)

From EPCOT

Option 1 — Skyliner: Walk to International Gateway, take Skyliner to Hollywood Studios. Total: 15-25 minutes.

Option 2 — Friendship Boat: Boats run from International Gateway to Hollywood Studios via BoardWalk. Total: 20-30 minutes.

Option 3 — Walk: Walk from International Gateway to Hollywood Studios via BoardWalk area. Total: 20-30 minutes.

Option 4 — Bus: Take the bus from EPCOT's main entrance. Total: 15-25 minutes.

If you're near International Gateway, Skyliner is fastest. If you're near EPCOT's front entrance, take the bus.

From Magic Kingdom

Bus only. No direct Skyliner, monorail, or boat connection.

Total time: 30-40 minutes

From Animal Kingdom

Bus only.

Total time: 25-35 minutes

Arrival Strategy

For Rope Drop

Hollywood Studios is popular for rope drop because of high-demand attractions (Rise of the Resistance, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Tower of Terror).

Timeline:

  • 60-75 minutes before park opening: Leave your resort
  • 45-60 minutes before: Arrive at Hollywood Studios
  • 30-45 minutes before: Get in line at park entrance

The Skyliner runs before park opening, but lines can build at the stations. If you're rope-dropping from a Skyliner resort, leave extra time.

Single Entrance

Hollywood Studios has one guest entrance on Hollywood Boulevard, facing the Chinese Theatre. All transportation drops you in the same area.

Departure Strategy

End of Night

Hollywood Studios' nighttime shows (Fantasmic!, projection shows) draw crowds that leave at once.

Strategies:

  1. Leave before the show ends. Skip the last few minutes and beat the rush.

  2. Stay 20-30 minutes after. Let the initial wave clear. Browse shops, grab a snack.

  3. Consider alternatives to bus:

    • Skyliner (if at a Skyliner resort) — line moves continuously
    • Walk (if at an EPCOT-area resort) — no waiting at all
    • Boat (if at an EPCOT-area resort) — often less crowded than buses

Skyliner Evening Advantage

After dark, the Skyliner ride back to your resort offers nice views of the lit-up BoardWalk area. The line moves continuously even when it looks long. It's often a more pleasant experience than standing at a bus stop.

Hollywood Studios is easy to reach from Skyliner and EPCOT-area resorts — you have multiple good options. From everywhere else, buses work well and are generally reliable.

The decision is usually straightforward: take the Skyliner if you're at a Skyliner resort, walk if you're at an EPCOT-area resort, bus if you're anywhere else. The variables matter most when you're deciding between Skyliner and bus, or between walking and waiting for a boat.

Getting to Hollywood Studios efficiently depends on where you're coming from and when. For help comparing your options — whether you're planning your route for a future trip or need an answer right now — see how the app handles Hollywood Studios routing.
